Månsson is now applying these same skills as a board member, he currently serves on the board of Aurora Fashions (Karen Millen, Oasis, Warehouse and Coast) and Bjorn Borg. He is a business consultant and advisor to entrepreneurs and companies in the consumer goods and services world, from international brands, retail chains and apparel manufacturers to internet based companies, McKinsey (senior advisor) and even soccer clubs.
Månsson, an internationally experienced retail and fashion executive, has a distinguished track record of leading businesses in times of growth, global expansion as well as turn-around and restructuring. His business acumen and leadership abilities coupled with his innovative, yet disciplined approach to leadership, product development, branding, operations, and finance have earned him the reputation as a driving force in the industry. Equally at home in the board room as with creative people, Månsson also plays guitar, is a songwriter as well as a former skateboard champion.
Currently splitting his time between Stockholm and New York, Mr Månsson has always preferred taking his cues from people, popular culture and the streets although he also holds a MSc from the Stockholm School of Economics and was elected a Global Leader for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2000.
While being the CEO of H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB, Forbes Magazine named H&M number one on its A-List as the most outstanding retailer worldwide. During this time, H&M repositioned its image, transforming it into a fashion force to be reckoned with. Launching the Company in the extremely competitive markets of the United States and Spain, changed the consumer’s perception of H&M and, to a certain degree, that of the retailing industry.
Having built a career at H&M, Månsson was recruited by Eddie Bauer as President and CEO. Recognized as a business transformation expert, the company achieved very strong earnings increases in the first couple of years and stemmed a multi-year comparable sales decline. His expertise in running widely diverse companies was instrumental to his success in re-branding the Company’s core franchise and bringing Eddie Bauer out of bankruptcy in 2005.
