To have dedicated a 16 year period of your life to singular excellence on an Olympic scale is in itself incredible, but to wear that brilliance so lightly and intelligently is something special.

From his self deprecating jokes about the ‘other guy in the boat’ who’s got 5 Gold’s, to his fantastic demeanour and captivating presentation style, Matthew was a truly killer addition to our sales meeting that turned the excellent into the unforgettable.

He effortlessly interwove great sports themes and fascinating and astonishing in depth rowing details, moving quickly from intensity to humour, whilst magically delivering a spot on business presentation, without actually ever mentioning business.

It was the way he happily let his gold medals be passed round the room for photographs, and then pro-actively offered to stay for another half an hour for photos and happily just talk with our event attendees that was a continuing topic of discussion long after the meeting had finished.
