Cindy Yu: Biography highlights

Cindy Yu is a China Reporter and Broadcast Editor at the Spectator.

Full biography

She was born and raised in Nanjing, China, until the age of 10. Cindy read Politics, Philosophy, and Economics at the University of Oxford, where she also read for a Master of Science in contemporary Chinese studies. Her research focused on Chinese political propaganda and modern youth opinion. She has travelled extensively within China and has also lived and worked in Hong Kong.

Cindy has written extensively about Chinese society – from marriage to education – and politics for the Spectator, especially covering China’s coronavirus response. She is a frequent commentator on China issues for RTE and BBC World Service and World TV.

Cindy is a very popular keynote speaker and event host, well placed to offer insight and analysis on China-related issues.
