Jeff Randall’s background
Jeff was educated at the Royal Liberty Grammar School in Romford, Essex and the University of Nottingham (BA Economics). He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Anglia Ruskin University in 2001 and an honorary doctorate from the University of Nottingham in 2006.
Jeff joined SKY News in September 2007. Prior to SKY News, he was the BBC’s Business Editor. He joined the BBC in March 2001 from Sunday Business, which he edited from its launch in February 1998. Sunday Business won the Su]nday Newspaper of the Year at the 1998 Newspaper Awards and the Wincott Award for Business Newspaper of the Year in the same year.
Between 1986 and 1988 Jeff was City correspondent for the Sunday Telegraph, which he joined from Financial Weekly, where he was Assistant Editor.
He had previously spent five years from 1989 to 1994 as city editor on the Sunday Times, during which time major news stories he broke included Robert Maxwell’s secret bid for Tottenham Hotspur FC in 1991 and John Latsis’ secret £2m donation to the Conservative Party in the same year.
Between 1994 and 1995 he was City and Business Editor on the Sunday Times, as well as a Director of Times Newspapers.
From 1995 to 1996 he was deputy chairman of Financial Dynamics Ltd, a City PR firm.
He then became assistant editor and sports editor on the Sunday Times and was responsible for launching the Sunday Times’ 20-page colour sports section in 1996.
He won the London Press Club’s Business Journalist of the Year Award in 2000 and the FT Analysis’ Financial Journalist of the Year Award in 1991.
Jeff was educated at the Royal Liberty Grammar School in Romford, Essex and received a degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham.
He completed a postgraduate course in journalism at the University of Florida
Jeff joined The Telegraph as Editor-at-Large in November 2005.
