About Kemal Dervis
Formerly head of the United Nations Development Programme and Minister of Economic Affairs of Turkey, Kemal focuses on global economics, emerging markets, development and international institutions. Dervis discusses at length the topics of Globalization, economic performance, social progress and the EU.
Designed the successful 2011 economic recovery plan for Turkey
Prior to career with the Turkish parliament, he held various positions at the World Bank over a career span of 22 years, including Division Chief for Industrial and Trade Strategy and Vice-President for the Middle East and North Africa region.
Has been honoured with the Order of the Rising Sun, Grand Cordon, and the Order of Civil Merit, Grand Cross, from Japan and Spain respectively. Japan cited the reason for this honour was due to “contributed to mainstreaming Japan’s development assistance policy through the United Nations.”
