Martina Muttke’s background

After completing her medical studies with a doctorate at the University in Germany and in Italy, Martina initiated her pharmaceutical career with GSK (formerly Glaxo Wellcome) in Medical Affairs. Thereafter she joined the online media world, leading the creation of scientific internet portals at the Bertelsmann Springer group in Berlin, Germany.

Her passion is to create and develop global leaders and to support them with an ability to translate knowledge and expertise into commercial success. Martina has a track record of change management in environments of acquisitions and restructurings.

She studied medicine in Germany and Italy and received her doctorate from the University of Cologne. Martina is a Harvard graduate from the AMP flagship program, and member of the Harvard Clubs in Zurich and Lisbon.

Martina was 16 years at Schering and Bayer Pharma AG, where she held various positions and a was a member of the Top 400 Global leadership Circle, with responsibility for medical functions in both developed and emerging Markets. She spent some years as Vice President for Medical Affairs Latin America in Mexico City.

In her latest position, Martina Muttke has led the International Medical Affairs function as a Group Vice President at Shire International GmbH, a global Biopharmaceutical company focused on Rare Diseases.

Working for global players during all her career, Martina formed part of regional and global executive teams. In her responsibility for functions spanning >50 countries and teams of >500 scientifically trained executives, she developed and led organizations through extensive change situations.

Martina nowadays is engaged with the global Leadership development company Merryck, as a mentor for CEOs and executive teams. She has a private coaching practice and acts as adviser & investor for startups in Healthcare.

Her clients benefit from her individual approach, which pairs her leadership experience with elements of scientific advances in medicine and Neuroscience.
