German born but raised in the UK by his Silesian parents, Matt Frei is a graduate of St Peters College, Oxford, reading History and Spanish.
From 2002 he was the BBCs Washington correspondent and then main presenter of the BBC America flagship news programme broadcast across the US covering events such as the historic election of Barak Obama and reporting from New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. During his tenure he presented a weekly Radio 4 show called Americana which delved into many aspects of life throughout the US.
In 2011 Matt joined Channel 4 as its Washington correspondent as well as being part of the team who present many of the broadcasters news and current affairs programmes.
A recipient of many awards most notably the Bayeux award for War Correspondents in 2000 but also including a BAFTA, a Royal television Society International News Award and an Amnesty International Asia award.
