Misha Glenny is an expert on global organised crime and cybersecurity. His book, "McMafia: A Journey through the Global Criminal Underworld" has been the influence of the popular TV series "McMafia", which is set to become one of the biggest crime fiction series of 2018.

Along with the Sony Gold Award for outstanding contribution to broadcasting, he was named UK Cyber Security Journalist of the Year in 2013 and won the Cyber Security feature of the year in 2014. His work focuses on the motivation of criminal hackers, the migration of traditional organised crime groups into cyber and the key issue of Communication in Cyber Security.
His personal encounters with hackers provide him with gravitas and exceptional insight into the minds of hackers and cyber-criminals. He has interviewed dozens of mafia bosses and members of organised crime groups. More recently, a new and separate network of criminal activity has emerged - cybercrime. He presents the issues surrounding cybersecurity in a relevant and fascinating socio-political context.
Misha studied Drama and German at the University of Bristol after which he attended the Charles University in Prague. He is a talented linguist and is fluent in German, Serbo-Croat, Czech and Portuguese.
He recently served as a visiting professor at Columbia University’s Harriman Institute where he ran a course entitled Crime, Corruption and Economic Transition. He was voted the best lecturer at SIPA for his work there.
Misha is on the international advisory boards of several major NGOs. He is regularly consulted by governments in Europe and the Americas on the Balkans and Eastern Europe, on transnational organized crime and on cybersecurity.
Misha has spoken at TED Global and is requested internationally to speak at corporate functions and events. He is also Founder and Director of SEE Change, a project which assisted cooperation within multi-ethnic communities in Serbia, Kosovo and Macedonia.
