Sallie Krawcheck's 2024 biography

Sallie Krawcheck’s background

Sometimes called the most powerful woman on Wall Street, Sallie Krawcheck has been president of Global Wealth & Investment Management for Bank of America and chief executive officer and chairman for Citi Global Wealth Management, where she was a member of the senior leadership committee and executive committee. During her time there she turned around and substantially grew their troubled financial services businesses by eliminating a number of Wall Street conflicts of interest.

Previously she was chairman and CEO of sell-side research firm Sanford C. Bernstein & Co where she established her reputation for impartial advice and the quality of her research. Citigroup then sought her out to deal with criticisms over conflicts of interest within its wealth management and research business.

She won much praise for being alone among Wall Street executives in reimbursing individual investor clients for losses during the financial downturn, something she did again at Bank of America – further enhancing her reputation for honesty and fair dealing.

She has been consistently listed as one of Forbes and Fortunes Most Powerful Women in business and U.S. Bankers top Woman to Watch. She is a past recipient of CNBCs Business Leader of the Future Award, and has been named one of Time magazines Global Business Influentials, Fortunes Most Influential Person Under the Age of 40 and top CFO in financial services. She was recognized by the World Economic Forum as one of its Young Global Leaders.

A native of Charleston, South Carolina, she attended the University of North Carolina graduating in 1987 with academic honors in Journalism and Political Science. In 1992, she received a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University. She is the owner of 85 Broads, a professional womans network. She is also a social media influence with more than 250 thousand followers on Linkedin. She is also currently advising a number of start-ups.
