A retired New York firefighter, Tim Brown was one of the heroes who survived the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers. Showing immense bravery and dedication to the job, Tim has since earned government commendation and continues to tell the story of his fellow servicemen and women who lost their lives in the tragic events of 9/11. During his career, Tim witnessed a number of terrifying and traumatic events, losing 93 of his colleagues in the aftermath of the attack on the Twin Towers. As a result of the horrific events of that day, Tim has since fallen victim to PTSD and other mental health issues. Now a highly sought after mental health speaker, Tim draws on his own personal circumstances to empower others to overcome their battles with mental health and supports emotional wellbeing.
After saving countless lives during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Tim went on to be a co-founder of The Families Inc. This organisation provides invaluable support to those who lost loved ones during the attacks, following Tim’s passion to never forget the sacrifices made by victims of 9/11. Tim has also served as the special assistant to the Secretary of Health and Human Services where he was deployed on a number of high-profile missions. This included being among the first responders during the Rhode Island Station Nightclub fire and the Anthrax attacks that hit America just a week after 9/11. These experiences have provided Tim with a whole host of skills including overcoming adversity, leadership and mental resilience, things he is able to share with audiences at his speaking events.
9/11 wasn’t the first terrorist attack that Tim experienced, back in 1993 he was on the scene at the World Trade Centre when a bomb was detonated and in 1995 he was on hand at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. But neither of these attacks could prepare him for what he was to witness during 9/11. Unsurprisingly, Tim has been scarred by the horrific sights of 9/11, with PTSD darkening his wellbeing. Tim continues his charity work and has discussed his experiences on FOX, CNN and CNBC, as well as featuring in two documentaries titled Forever Changed 9/11 and Rebirth.
A true American hero, Tim’s mental health speaking events always leave a resounding impact on audiences, who are blown away by his exceptional stories. Forever marked and changed by his experiences as a firefighter, Tim shares his thoughts on what service is like as a firefighter, along with how it has affected his emotions and left him with memories he can never forget. Since losing his two best friends in the 9/11 attacks, Tim has also used his speaking engagements as a way of defending the memory of people who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks, showing support and appreciation for those who risked their lives to save others. A true role model, Tim Brown is a perfect speaker to talk about the challenges of mental illness and to show support to those who are suffering.
