Carlton has been broadcasting for over 25 years. He is the leading voice on all of the Grand Tours: Tour de France, Giro D’Italia and the Vuelta d’Espania.

His commentary on these and other Classics has been used globally by clients such as NBC and beIN in the USA, BBC Television, ITV, Channel 4 and SKY in the UK, Sportsnet in Canada, SABIC South Africa, ABC Australia, Star and Pearl in Asia amongst many other global networks that have commissioned both live action and recorded programmes with his commentary.

His vocal range is considerable and allows him to easily convey his love of the sport. His passion is central to his commentary style, something he is able to deliver with great authority.

Carlton is able to match the action and seamlessly changes pace with the phases of the race while at the same time engaging viewers with his ready wit and sense of fun.

His versatility encompasses other sports such as motor racing where he is a recognized authority on rallying, endurance racing and motorcycling with regular highlights including the Monte Carlo Rally, the Dakar Rally, the Le Mans 24 hours and Moto GP amongst other high profile events.
