Biography

Lizzy Yarnold is one of Great Britain’s most successful Winter Olympians, recognised for winning and defending an Olympic title in one of the world’s most demanding high-performance sports. She is a two-time Olympic gold medallist in skeleton and among the country’s most decorated Winter Olympic athletes.

Beyond Olympic success, she has secured the full set of major titles in her sport, including the overall World Cup, World Championship and European Championship. This breadth of achievement reflects sustained excellence across multiple seasons, not a single peak performance.

Her journey into elite sport began through the UK Sport Girls4Gold talent pathway, progressing into the British skeleton programme and on to the international stage. She later received both an MBE and an OBE for services to sport, recognising her contribution at the highest level of competition.

Lizzy studied Geography and Sport & Exercise Science at the University of Gloucestershire, combining academic foundations with the practical demands of world-class performance.
