Jodie Taylor’s background

Born in Birkenhead, raised in Wallasey, Jodie’s professional career began at Tranmere Rovers. She started her first professional game at only 15, scoring on her debut against Wolves in the FA Cup 5th round.

The striker has played in six countries, won 51 caps and scored 19 goals for the Lionesses, all whilst winning major competitions across two continents.

Off the back of recognition from the England age group set-up, which included playing ahead of her age for England u19s, Jodie accepted a scholarship to go play in the USA for Oregon State University. After this came a short stint coaching at Fresno State University in California, where Jodie quickly realised she missed being out on the pitch, prompting a move to Australia to play for Melbourne Victory. Following this, she joined Birmingham City in 2011, helping guide them to back to back second place finishes in the WSL, as well as their first ever Women’s FA Cup success in 2012.

A natural goalscorer, Jodie won the golden-boot at Euro 2017, the same tournament at which she made history by becoming the first England Women’s player to score a hat-trick at a major tournament.

Off the pitch, Jodie loves coffee, food and exploring new places across the world. She’s currently studying for her Masters in Sports Directorship. Alongside all of this, she has her UEFA A coaching license.
