David Goodhart's 2024 biography

David Goodhart’s Background

David is the founder and former editor of Prospect magazine, which he set up in 1995. David has grown Prospect into Britain’s leading current affairs monthly and he remains the magazine’s editor-at-large.

David is a prominent figure in public debate in the UK. He is a well-known broadcaster, author, commentator and journalist who regularly contributes to the Guardian, the Independent, the Times and the Financial Times. He has presented several BBC Radio 4 Analysis programmes. Before Prospect, David was a correspondent for the Financial Times for 12 years – including a stint in Germany during the unification period.

He currently work part-time at the think tank Policy Exchange where he run the Demography, Immigration and Integration unit.

In his time at PX he have written several major reports and written many blogs and shorter reports on current events. He continue to be the director of the Integration Hub website which he established at Demos with Trevor Phillips but brought with him to PX. The Hub has an array of data relating to issues of ethnic minority integration/segregation and a lively website. When he’s not at PX he is working as a journalist and author.

David is author of The British Dream, about postwar multiculturalism, national identity and immigration. It was short-listed for the Orwell Book Prize in 2014. In his new book (a Sunday Times bestseller) The Road to Somewhere: The New Tribes Shaping British Politics, Goodhart identifies the value divisions in British society that help to explain the Brexit vote and the rise of populism.
