Empowering Inclusion and Success: The Journey of Dr. Grace Lordan

Dr. Grace Lordan is a pioneering force in the fields of inclusive leadership, behavioural science, and workforce diversity. As the Founding Director of The Inclusion Initiative (TII) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Grace is dedicated to bridging the gap between academic research and practical applications in the corporate world. Her mission is to enhance inclusion within organizations and help individuals achieve their full potential.

Academic Excellence and Research Leadership

With a PhD in Economics and an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Grace combines rigorous analytical skills with a deep understanding of human behaviour. Her research focuses on why some individuals succeed while others do not, examining the effects of bias, discrimination, and technological changes. Grace’s work has been published in top general journals of economics and the broader social sciences, and has been featured by prominent media outlets including the Financial Times, The Guardian, BBC, and Forbes.

Founding Director of The Inclusion Initiative

In 2020, Grace founded The Inclusion Initiative at LSE, a research center aimed at applying behavioural science insights to enhance organizational inclusion. TII’s work is grounded in academically rigorous and relevant research, with hubs dedicated to financial services firms in London and the measurement of inclusion for growth and governance. Through TII, Grace is committed to creating workplaces where all talents are recognized and valued.

Educator and Thought Leader

Grace is the inaugural Director of the MSc in Behavioral Science at LSE and teaches corporate behaviour and decision-making to executive MSc students. She also directs LSE’s Inclusive Organisations virtual course and has a decade of experience teaching econometrics. Her teaching and leadership roles allow her to impart cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills to the next generation of leaders and decision-makers.

Government Advisor and Consultant

Grace’s expertise is sought after by governments and organizations worldwide. She has served as an expert advisor to the UK government on their skills and productivity board and is a member of the BEIS Social Mobility Taskforce and the Women in Finance Charter’s advisory board. Additionally, she has led consultancy projects for the Low Pay Commission and the European Commission and has been an invited speaker at events hosted by the Irish, British, French, Australian, and US governments. Grace also leads the £2 million ESRC-funded Diversity and Productivity from Education to Work (DAPEW) project.

Grace is the Founding Director of The Inclusion Initiative (TII). Grace set this research center up at the LSE in 2020. TII aims to bring behavioural science insights to firms to allow them to enhance the inclusion of all talent, and simultaneously produce academically rigorous and relevant research that links directly to TII’s purpose. Currently TII has two hubs. The first dedicated to research into financial services firms in London, and the second focused on Growth and Governance through the measurement of inclusion.

Grace is the inaugural Director of the MSc in Behavioural Science at the LSE, and teaches corporate behaviour and decision making to executive MSc students at the LSE.
